JOHN ADAMS : {” Democracy…while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.”}
Note; John Adams was obviously a student of history, and up through history and into his day, this ominous statement certainly rang true. From his day forward this democracy has endured some hard times, will it continue to endure, only time will tell. If the principals the Founding Fathers set down are adheard to, this should be the the democracy that sets the standard for all others that follow, and will be the lasting legacy to the framers of our Constitution. We, as a people, all need to work to preserve the Constitution, to achieve that lofty goal.

Many MA. Police Department’s, under the ‘policies’ of their politically appointed chiefs, pretend that the reason: ‘Any Lawful Purpose’ for a firearm license is not a “good enough reason” to apply for the license, believe it or not! But, I believe that the most open and honest reason that I, or any law-abiding citizen, (in my opinion) could ever give for the use of a handgun, or any firearm, (without going into Constitutional rights) would be; ‘Any Lawful Purpose’. Lawful being the key word, this would automatically exclude any and all criminal intentions, it stands on its own merits. It covers any contingency you would need to lawfully need or use a firearm.
There could not possibly be any better reason for one to exercise his/her right to self-defense in a crime ridden world. Crime happens while the police are not watching, this is why there are victims of unsolved crimes. Criminals do not bother to apply for gun permits. People that do apply, (in my humble opinion) are not the problem, or the cause of crime, or a cause for concern, and should not be treated as such. Arbitrary discretion is a disservice to law-abiding citizens, and our so-called representatives need to do their job by putting an end to it.
In the words of George Washington: {“It would be an unjust and unwise jealousy to deprive a man of his natural liberty upon the supposition he may abuse it.”}
Note; Those old dead Founding Fathers still sound very relevant to me. How about you?

NOTE: Wisdom learned, observations made, experience through hard lessons in life should not be frivolously discarded. They should instead be revisited from time to time, to compare with current happenings, and in doing so, hardships previously endured may be averted today. The random quotes that follow are reflections from a wide range of personalities, some well known, others more obscure, they are worth repeating here, and I believe, worthy of your consideration. The common thread that links them, they were all great Americans and Patriots.
