All these tragedies have 2 or more things in common, at the bottom of the page will be my brief summary. Mark Shean
Camden N.J. Sept. 6, 1949
Howard Unruh, age 28, killed neighbors while walking near his home. He never went to trial; he was determined to be a paranoid schizophrenic and found to be insane. He died at age 88 in a ward for the mentally insane. He said he would have killed 1000 if he could have had the time.
4 injured, 13 dead, including 3 children ages 2, 6, and 9. He lived with his mother, was a loner, he just took a ‘walk of death’ one day.
Austin Texas, Aug. 1, 1966, At the University of Texas.
Charles Whitman, age 25, was a former Marine sniper who shot people from the observation deck of a campus tower before being killed by police.
32 injured, 16 dead plus the shooter. He was abusing amphetamines and was having severe daily headaches, he suspected mental illness according to the notes police found later. He murdered his mother and wife prior to going to the university.
San Ysidro Ca. July 18, 1984
James Oliver Huberty, age 41, went into the McDonald’s and shot people until he was killed by a police sniper.
On the day before the massacre, Huberty had called a mental health center. The receptionist misspelled his name on intake as Shouberty. Since he had not claimed there was an immediate emergency, his call was not returned. Delusional, he said he served in V. Nam but was never in any military branch.
19 injured, 21 dead including 5 children ages, 8 months, 9, 11, 11, 11, plus the shooter.
Edmond Oaklahoma, Aug. 20, 1986, at a post office.
Pat Sherrill, age 44, He was about to be fired, (he thought) as a letter carrier for ‘poor job performance’, when he came to work, he shot his coworkers and supervisor and then killed himself, (coward). Described as a quiet loner, neighbors said no one liked him, he was a suspected ‘peeping tom’ and kids called him ‘crazy Pat’. He lived with his mother until she died and was never able to hold any job for long.
6 injured, 14 dead, the shooter, (coward) committed suicide.
Killeen Texas, Oct. 16, 1991, at Luby’s Cafeteria, (Luby’s Massacre)
George Hennard, age 35, drove into a restaurant and then started shooting people. Police injured him and he then killed himself. He was described as angry and withdrawn, he was known to ‘dislike’ women, and was unemployed.
In response, Texas politicians got it right by passing a Shall-Issue gun law, removing the personal discretion of the issuing authority to deny a Concealed Carry Handgun License to qualified applicants.
27 injured, 23 dead, the shooter, (coward) committed suicide.
Littleton Co. April 20, 1999, Columbine High School
Eric Harris, age 18, and fellow student Dylan Klebold, age 17, killed students and teachers at their school before killing themselves in the library. Both of these students were in psychiatric treatment and in trouble with the law. The weapons they used were illegally acquired, (stolen). They even made bombs that failed to work. Noted in a journal they kept, they wanted to ‘out-do’ prior murderous events.
24 injured, 13 dead, two shooters, (cowards) committed suicide.
Oct. 6, 2006 at the West Nickle Mines School
Lancaster County Pa., an Amish schoolhouse.
Gunman Charles Carl Roberts IV age 32, took hostages and shot ten girls. He confessed on the phone to his wife that he was a child molester and knew he would molest again, and that he was ‘angry at God’.
5 injured, 5 killed aged 6-13. The shooter, (coward) committed suicide.
Blacksburg, Va. April 16, 2007, Virginia Tech.
Student Seung Hui Cho, age 23, killed two students in a dorm and then went through a classroom building shooting people. He had been diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder known as ‘selective mutism’, and a major depressive disorder. Many faculty members found Cho’s behavior ‘menacing’. The school psychiatrist said she was not surprised to hear who had done the shooting and would have been more surprised if it had been anyone else.
17 injured, 32 students dead, the shooter, (coward) committed suicide.
Binghamton N.Y. April 3, 2009, At the Immigration Services Center.
Jiverly Wong, age 41, was a student at the center when he shot people as he walked into a classroom. Had said ‘America sucks’ and that he wanted to shoot the President and co-workers, he had a bad run of luck according to some and appeared paranoid to others. He was never diagnosed.
4 injured, 13 dead, the shooter, (coward) committed suicide.
Fort Hood Texas, Nov. 5, 2009, At a Soldier Readiness Processing Center.
Army psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan, age 39, is awaiting trial for accusations that he fired at a group of soldiers who were getting ready to be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. He is described as a paranoid and schizoid according to colleagues and superiors. 2 1/2 years after his premeditated attack he still has not come to trial. As directed by the White House, the DOD refuses to call this what it is, a terrorist act.
32 injured, 13 dead. Shooter was shouting ‘God is Great!’; in Arabic during the rampage.
Tucson Arizona, Jan. 8, 2011 at a ‘town square’ meeting.
Jared L. Loughner age 25
Acquaintances said that Loughner’s personality had changed markedly in the years prior to the shooting, a period when he was also abusing alcohol and drugs. He had been suspended from Pima Community College in September 2010 because of his bizarre behavior and disruptions in classes and the library. After his arrest, two medical evaluations diagnosed him as paranoid schizophrenic and incompetent to stand trial. He was sentenced to life in Nov. 2012.
12 injured, one a US Representative, 6 killed, one age 9, one a Federal Judge.
Aurora Co. Century Movie Theater, July 20, 2012
James Holmes age 25,
Holmes’ defense attorneys claimed in a motion he was a “psychiatric patient” of the medical director of Anschutz’s Student Mental Health Services prior to the Aurora shooting. CBS News later reported that Holmes had met with at least three mental health professionals at the University of Colorado prior to the massacre.
Some of Holmes’ acquaintances suspected prior to the shooting that Holmes suffered from mental illness and could be dangerous. Two weeks before the shooting, he sent a text message asking a graduate student if they had heard of the disorder dysphoric mania, and warning the student to stay away from him “because I am bad news.”
Injured 58, killed 12.
Newton Conn. Dec. 14, 2012 At an Elementary School.
Adam Lanza age 20, Diagnosed with a developmental disorder, ‘Aspergers Syndrome’. His mother had told him she was considering placement for him in a mental institution, this may have been what ‘set him off’ in his rampage’? The guns he stole were his mothers, he killed her first.
Killed 27 people including 20 elementary school students, the shooter, (coward) committed suicide.
Webster New York, Dec. 24th 2012.
William H Spengler Jr. age 62
Ex. convict who went to jail for murdering his grandmother by beating her to death with a hammer. In a note police found he wrote that he was going to do what he liked best, “I like to kill people”. He was not allowed to legally possess firearms. NOTE: Why was this lunatic let out of jail in the first place?
3 injured, 2 killed, the shooter, (coward) committed suicide.
My Summary:
All of these tragedies have common denominators that the media and politicians bent upon gun confiscation fail/refuse to elaborate on. Intelligent people can/will spot these common denominators. The politicians who have always shunned their oaths to office and campaigned vocally against all legal gun ownership, IE the Second Amendment, are now about to launch a vicious assault on 95+ million law abiding legally licensed American citizens based on the acts of a few mentally deranged individuals.
The people involved in these shootings obviously were not rational people, no gun grab schemes or anti gun laws would have or could have ever stopped them.
While the politicians and media scream gleefully in anticipation of fulfilling their dreams of disarmament, their ruse has not gone unnoticed by millions of Americans who know the REAL conversation that has needed to be addressed by Congress, this being mental health issues in this country, not more impotent gun laws that will never stop/effect the mentally ill/or criminals. Shame on politicians for not starting this conversation with the preponderance of evidence staring them all in their self serving faces!
FOOT NOTE: If the government wants to ban guns from Americans based on Sandy Hook then the government should surrender their weapons based on the Waco Texas massacre/siege from Feb. 28, 1993 to April 19, 50 days long. Below a partial list of the murdered to that unpunished crime by government ‘agents’/thugs!
Children and Pregnant women murdered at Waco, TX by the US Government. Chanel Andrade, age 1, American, Cyrus Koresh, age 8, American, Star Koresh, age 6, American, Bobbie Lane Koresh, age 2, American, Nicole Gent Little, age 24, Australian and pregnant, Dayland Gent, age 3, American, Page Gent, age 1, American, Lisa Martin, age 13, American, Sheila Martin, Jr., age 15, American, Crystal Martinez, age 3, American, Isaiah Martinez, age 4, American, Joseph Martinez, age 8, American, Abigail Martinez, age 11, American, Audrey Martinez, age 13, American, Melissa Morrison, age 6, British, Mayanah Schneider, age 2, American, Aisha Gyrfas Summers, age 17, Australian and pregnant, Startle Summers, age 1, American, Rachel Sylvia, age 12, American, Hollywood Sylvia, age 1, American, Serenity Jones, age 4, American, Chica Jones, age 2, American, Little One Jones, age 2, American…….Murdered for their own “protection” by government ATF agents/thugs/murderers on the order of Janet Reno, she got away with it on a ‘wink and a nod’ from Bill Clinton………
You must ask yourself, ‘Why is the government so keen on disarming all Americans?’
I will end this summary with the words of a man not from this time, a man with the wisdom even a genius like Thomas Jefferson admired in his own time, a wisdom not found in politicians of today, sadly…… Sincerely, Mark Shean, author of #GUN SENSE.

Cesare Beccaria, 1764 :
Cesare Beccaria, Italian jurist, philosopher, and politician, 1764, on his observations of human nature.
They are military-grade guns – the gun of choice for many terrorist groups. They can fire up to 60 rounds per minute, and are meant for “destruction,” police said. And they’re here. Mark’s NOTE: What is a military ‘grade’ gun? Define please. The terrorist gun of choice are fully automatic weapons, not semi-auto firearms.
State and Brockton police confiscated two AK-47-type weapons and a high-capacity magazine Tuesday night in a Brockton apartment. Police come across weapons like these about once a month, said Lt. Paul Bonanca, and the gun’s potential to cause harm can’t be understated. Mark’s NOTE: What is an AK-47 ‘type‘ weapon? It is either an AK-47 or it is not….. “the gun’s potential to cause harm can’t be understated”. Mark’s NOTE: A car’s potential to cause harm can’t be understated, or a knife, or golf club, all truisms, most anything has a potential to cause harm…..but that ‘potential‘ is only possible by the manipulation of a human, otherwise there is zero potential for harm from these items.
“You could spray a room (with bullets),” he said. “It’s not what we want to see here on the street.” Mark’s NOTE: 99.99% of gun crime are with hand guns, not these ‘type‘ long arms. FBI statistics bear this out, the police and Justin Graeber decided not too….why taint sensationalism with facts?
Police would not comment on the possible reasons why the guns were being kept in Brockton. The weapon’s destructiveness speaks for itself. “I don’t think there’s any other reason. … It’s a weapon intended for more destruction,” Bonanca said. Mark’s NOTE: I believe the police had these people under surveillance for illegal activity of some sort and would not want to compromise that investigation, these were not law-abiding good citizens. A firearm is as only ‘destructive‘ as the human manipulating it makes it, in safe sane hands it is also safe. Remember it is the person, not the gun……
On Tuesday, detectives working with the state police STOP (Special Tactical Operations) team, state troopers and the FBI served a search warrant on an apartment at 5 Whipple Ave., about 8:40 p.m. said State Police Sgt. Michael McCarthy. Their target – these guns. Two AK-47 type rifles were confiscated by police, and one had an extended magazine or a “banana clip,” according to McCarthy, which can hold from 30 to 60 rounds of ammunition. Three people were arrested. Mark’s NOTE: They were only focused on the guns? Not anything to do with all the drugs they found? Something does not ring true here, a $500,000 bail is way out of whack with a simple gun charge.
Larry Shaw, 58, of 5 Whipple Ave., was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of unlawful possession of a high-capacity firearm, and one count of possession of a high-capacity feeding device. Eddie Lang, 62, of 105 Belair St., was charged with possession of a class A drug with intent to distribute and possession of a class B drug. Police say they found eight small bags of heroin and a small amount of oxycodone on Lang. Matthew Wood, 22, of 10 Douglas Ave. was arrested on two local warrants. Mark’s NOTE: These guys don’t sound like your typical law-abiding citizens.
Shaw is being held in Plymouth County Jail on $500,000 bail. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison – 15 if this is not his first offense involving an assault rifle. Mark’s NOTE: A good journalist would have researched the answer to this prior to printing the article, you can find this info at the District Court Justin….
Jim Shepard of Zero Hour Arms in Easton looked at the photo of the two weapons that were seized and said they are semi-automatic variations on the military-issue rifle, not true AK-47s but some of the countless imitations of the weapon. “They’re like snowflakes,” he said. One is from a Chinese manufacturer (Norinco) and the other is a Romanian gun, he said. Machine guns have been banned since 1934. Assault rifles were banned in 1994, but guns made before the ban can be legally owned. The federal ban expired in 2004 but the state law, which mirrors the federal one, remains in effect. Mark’s NOTE: The Federal ban expired because it was a pointless ban, it accomplished nothing and Congress recognized that, our state ‘Representatives’ are not that bright…..
Many assault rifle-type weapons are valuable as collectors items, Shepard said, because there’s only a set amount that can be sold to civilians. Machine guns, or fully automatic assault weapons made prior to 1986, can be worth $15,000-$20,000. Those are rarely fired because of their value, he said.
It’s unlikely they were collector’s items in this case, however, as officers found them in a plastic garbage bag hidden inside a pillowcase in a bedroom closet, according to the police report filed in court. Police have not talked about why Shaw had the weapons, although he told authorities on Tuesday that he was “holding them for someone else,” according to the police report. Brockton police have seized 41 guns so far this year, but did not have a list readily available of the types of weapons seized. Mark’s NOTE: Why didnt Justin print the list of 41 guns confiscated? Why, because it would reveal the fact that the number of so-called ‘assault weapons’ would be minimal or even non-existent, why put facts into a left slanting anti gun story Justin?
Bonanca said that when police seize a high-powered weapon they work with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to determine the gun’s origin. He believes a large percentage of the guns come from out-of-state. The problem of guns on Brockton streets isn’t new. In April 2011, police working with the U.S. Attorney’s office and the ATF cracked down on guns in the city, making 32 arrests and confiscating 47 guns, including a fully automatic machine gun.
Brockton has a special tactical team that can be called in when high-powered assault weapons are involved. They train about once a month, Bonanca said. While much of Brockton’s gun crime involves handguns or other single-shot weapons such as the illegal sawed-off shotgun used in a fatal shooting in the city on Aug. 10, assault rifles remain a major concern of law enforcement.
James Holmes, the man accused of killing 12 people and injuring 58 at a midnight movie screening in Colorado last month, used an assault rifle during his rampage. Mark’s NOTE: His ‘assault weapon’ jammed’ and most of the damage was done with a handgun. The theater was a ‘no gun’ zone as per theater policy. This is exactly why Holmes knew he would have no resistance from the ‘sheepole’.

Assault weapon laws
Current state law mirrors the expired federal assault weapons ban. Assault weapons are defined under state law as:
Fully automatic weapons/machine guns.
Certain brands of semi-automatic weapons are banned by name in the statute, including Kalashnikovs (true AK-47s), UZIs and TEC-9s.
A semi-automatic rifle that has at least two of the following features: A folding or telescoping stock, a pistol grip, a flash suppressor, a bayonet mount or a grenade launcher.
Semi-automatic pistols and shotguns that have two or more of these or similar features are also banned.
Large capacity feeding devices, meaning magazines holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition or more than five shotgun shells are also banned.
Weapons fitting this description but manufactured before the adoption of the federal law in 1994 can be owned with the proper license. Current and retired law enforcement personnel are also exempted from the ban.

Excerpt from the ‘Huffington Post’; (with factual rebuttals from me)…..
WASHINGTON — One week after the Aurora, Colo., mass murder brought gun-control back to the forefront of political discourse, the Obama administration found itself faced with its first test on the issue — and blinked.
An arms control treaty to regulate the $60 billion global business of illicit small arms trading that had worked its way through United Nations negotiating channels for several years came up at the final day of a U.N. global conference in New York on Friday. The U.S. joined Russia in objecting to a final version, with some diplomats and human rights advocates blaming the U.S. for the defeat. Mark’s NOTE: In part, this ‘treaty’ would have made civilian ownership of firearms worldwide illegal, and allow despots to hand out punishment from a ‘world court’. Obama and Clinton, and many in our ‘government’ are OK with that, hmm……
As the Colorado slaughter put guns back on the agenda this week, Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) and 50 fellow senators sent a letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday, saying that they would vote against ratifying the treaty if it “restricts the rights of law-abiding American gun owners.” Mark’s NOTE: Moran did not word his opposition strongly enough in my opinion, Moran should have pointed out that this treaty would usurp America’s sovereignty also, allowing despots from around the world to dictate how we should live.
Moran, in a press release, quoted a National Rifle Association leader, who said members would “never surrender our right to keep and bear arms to the United Nations.” Treaty opponent John Bolton, ex-President George W. Bush’s ambassador to the U.N., wrote that gun-control advocates “hope to use restrictions on international gun sales to control gun sales at home.” The Associated Press fact-checked claims by the NRA and Bolton on Friday and concluded their assertions were true.
Huff. Post: “Both men ignore the legal principle that says no treaty can override the Constitution or U.S. laws”. Mark’s NOTE: Not true, show us that ‘legal principle’… Cannot override the Constitution….Unless ratified by a supermajority vote,(51) in the U.S. Senate), this is a tiny little fact conveniently left out/overlooked by a very left leaning Huffington Post….. if the Huff. Post had done a smidgen of investigative reporting, I am sure they would have found this Article ll, as I did in the Constitution, and I have no journalistic ‘expertise’/education…. go figure.
Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution, includes the Treaty Clause, which empowers the President of the United States to propose and chiefly negotiate agreements between the United States and other countries, which become binding treaties between the United States and other countries after the advice and consent of a supermajority (51) of the United States Senate.
Mark’s NOTE; The Media would rather keep people in the dark and feed us manure than to just simply tell the truth. The truth runs contrary to the elite media and many ‘progressive’ politicians ‘agenda’ for America.
I guess the President and Hillary decided that maybe this was a bad time, (election year) to stir up people who cling to their religion, guns and, (gasp!) freedom?

First and foremost my prayers and thoughts to the victims and all families involved in this terrible crime. M.Shean, author of GUN SENSE, on amazon.
As Paul Harvey would have said; “And now the rest of the story”, in the form of my rebuttals.
Story taken from Newsmax, 7-23-2012 ;
Within hours of a madman opening fire in a crowded movie theater on Aurora, Colo., gun-control advocates began to use the theater shooting spree, which left 12 dead and 71 wounded, to push their agenda.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an ardent gun-control advocate, led the way, citing the massacre on a radio broadcast Friday morning, insisting that statements of sympathy and concern from President Barack Obama’s and Mitt Romney’s campaigns were not enough. Marks rebuttal; Bloomberg is safely surrounded by armed security at all times, (on our dime), yet he wants every law abiding citizen disarmed, that is an elitist mindset to say the very least…
“Soothing words are nice,” said Bloomberg. “But maybe it’s time the two people who want to be president of the United States stand up and tell us what they’re going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country. And everybody always says, ‘Isn’t it tragic?’” Bloomberg urged the nation’s governors to speak out about the shooting as well. “I mean, there are so many murders with guns every day. It’s just got to stop,” he said. “And instead of these two people, President Obama and Gov. Romney, talking in broad things about they want to make the world a better place. OK. Tell us how. And this is a problem.”
Bloomberg added: “No matter where you stand on the Second Amendment, no matter where you stand on guns, we have a right to hear from both of them, concretely, not just in generalities, specifically, ‘What are they going to do about guns?’” Marks rebuttal; It is very telling that Bloomberg will not address the crime in the context of how criminals should be addressed when committing murder with firearms, instead he is only focused on ‘guns’ ‘What are they going to do about guns?’” His agenda is to ban all firearm ownership. Bloomberg is an avid supporter of the U.N. ‘Arms Trade Treaty’ (ATT) which would ban civilian ownership worldwide, a treaty that Hillary Clinton is gleefully poised to sign on 7-27-2012, and that Obama said he would sign if it passes a supermajority vote,(51) in our Senate, making it the law of our land! This is nothing less than an end run around our Constitution/sovereignty by U.N. despots! EVIL GUNS ?
The country seemed to be in for yet another round in the debate of whether gun-ownership creates violence or prevents it. Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas said he could not understand why there was apparently no-one in the theater with a weapon who could take gunman James Holmes out before he could create more mayhem. “It does make me wonder, with all those people in the theater, was there nobody that was carrying a gun that could have stopped this guy more quickly?” Gohmert asked. Marks rebuttal; It appears that Rep. Gohmert is not aware of the ‘No Guns’ policy that is in place at that theater, which means all law abiding citizens left their guns at home which allowed James Holmes to murder them like sheep knowing full well no one would be armed. There are three elements surrounding a crime scene, the victim(s), the criminal(s) and the police, and we all know who gets there last…and possibly a forth element, politicians who want Gun Control laws to disarm us, if we allow the imbecile’s to do so.
By Saturday much of the liberal media had weighed in with calls for more control. In an editorial, The Washington Post wrote, “There is no rational basis for allowing ordinary Americans to purchase assault rifles. They’re not necessary for hunting, and they’re not needed for self-defense.”
It added, “Yes, the Second Amendment protects a citizen’s right to own a gun, but it does not preclude reasonable regulation for public safety. Yes, mass killings occur in societies with stronger gun laws, but not with such regularity — and not against the backdrop of daily gun violence, both criminal and accidental, that distinguishes the United States.” Marks rebuttal; The REAL reason we have a Second Amendment has absolutely nothing to do with hunting, something NONE of the media and political elite want you to understand, so they do not bring it up, so I will…. Quote, “The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” unquote –Thomas Jefferson– As far as ‘accidental’, far more people drown every year, if The Washington Post is concerned about ‘accidents’, ban all water, Now you know the truth behind the crafting of the Second Amendment, brought to you from a great man of the past, please pass it on…
Gail Collins in The New York Times likened gun-control advocates to suffragettes who had a long slog before winning their case, while columnist Dan Froomkin complained on the Huffington Post that politicians are responding “with pieties rather than policy proposals.” Marks rebuttal; It would be political suicide to try and disarm a law abiding American public based on the actions of criminals, ‘so-called’ Gun Control laws are not about guns or crime, it is solely about CONTROL of We The People as a whole. Quote, “Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.” unquote, –Patrick Henry– Take heed from this very astute warning America…
Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter who represents the Aurora area where the shooting occurred, said of Holmes: “I don’t know why he had such easy access to guns.” Perlmutter said it was “premature” to consider political issues, however his Democratic colleague in the House, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy of New York was not so bashful. “We as a nation should … not continue to ignore avenues to prevent tragedies like this from happening in the future,” said McCarthy, whose husband was shot to death on the Long Island Railroad in 1993. Marks rebuttal; See above quote from Patrick Henry, take serious note of it. Had Rep. McCarthy’s husband been armed that day on the train he may well be alive today….
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence posted a petition on its web site asking for signatures from those who felt the Aurora tragedy was a reason to help prod lawmakers towards more gun control legislation. The campaign, founded by former Reagan press secretary James Brady after he was wounded in the assassination attempt on his boss, said the “horrendous shooting” is “yet another tragic reminder that we have a national problem of easy availability of guns in this country.” Mark’s rebuttal; Brady and her ilk are determined to disarm all Americans, and are proud to support the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty,(ATT) need I say more?
The Brady petition asked that convicted felons and domestic abusers, terrorists and the dangerously mentally ill should be banned from buying, owning or carrying a gun anywhere in the country. Mark’s rebuttal; FACT: All these stipulations are already covered by law, this is a case of ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ from Brady.
Dennis Henigan, vice-president of the Brady campaign told CBS News it is time for President Barack Obama to act on gun control. “The president has not shown sufficient leadership on the gun issue,” he said. Referring to other shootings such as those at Columbine School, Virginia Tech, Fort Hood and Tucson, he said, “We hope that the cumulative impact of these continuing tragedies will ultimately lead our politicians to begin to respond to the need for public safety, the need to stop this violence, instead of simply doing the bidding of the gun lobby.” “This being an election year, I believe that the American people will say, as they say over and over again, ‘enough is enough,'” added Henigan. Mark’s rebuttal; Again, please read Patrick Henry’s quote above, these are the kind of people that Mr. Henry had the incredible foresight to warn freedom loving Americans about well over 200 years ago.
Media figures too joined in the fray. CNN talk show host Piers Morgan tweeted extensively on the issue, saying, among other things, that “America has got to do something about its gun laws. Now is the time.” He later added, “More Americans will buy guns after this, to defend themselves and so the dangerous spiral descents. When/how does it stop.” Within seconds, he added, “Lunatics like this will always try and get guns. It should be 100,000 times harder than it is for them to do so.” Mark’s rebuttal; I agree with Piers about his assertion “America has got to do something about its gun laws’ he is correct, they need to be revisited, most dismantled and replaced with emphasis placed on CRIME CONTROL instead!
In a later tweet, the British talk show host said, “Colorado shooter, Holmes, bought all four of his guns LEGALLY at Gander Mtn & Bas Pro Shop. Still the ‘wrong time’ to debate gun control?” Mark’s rebuttal; Who cares what the British think? We already kicked them out of America because of tyranny, now they actively practice tyranny against their own people with strict gun control amidst sky rocketing crime! How’s that bloody gun control working out over there for you England? They want us to be as miserable as they are…
Larry King, the man Morgan replaced on CNN also tweeted support for more gun control. “We remain one of the few countries in the world where anyone in the world can get a gun. In this case a machine gun. This is absurd,” wrote King. Mark’s rebuttal; What Larry says is nonsense, and illogical. For one thing Larry, machine guns have been banned to the general public since 1938, but, lets not confuse the issues with the facts. In Larry’s mind, because of America, -quote; “Where anyone in the world can get a gun“, unquote, really Larry? The only thing ‘absurd’ Larry was your confused statement.
Arianna Huffington of the liberal Huffington Post tweeted, “People might say it’s too early to have the gun discussion Mayor Bloomberg wants. Actually it’s too late.” Author Salman Rushdie created a firestorm of criticism on his Twitter page after he tweeted, “The ‘right to bear arms’ is the real Bane of America.” Bane is the name of the villain in “The Dark Knight Rises.” He followed that message with, “Anyone else tired of presidential candidates saying they value American life but never a sane word about gun control?” Mark’s rebuttal; Had more Jewish people in 1938 Europe forcefully resisted the ‘Gun Control’ registration scheme at that time, I believe firmly there would have been far fewer led to a helpless slaughter at the hands of ‘Government’. Far better to have a fighting chance, armed and free than to be slaughtered like sheep by criminals or rouge government agents in the trumped-up name of ‘public safety’! This was clearly understood by our Founders, a lesson obviously lost on Bloomberg and the rest of these elites with a dangerous agenda for America and a blind eye to history.
On the other side of the Twitter debate, singer Chris Daughtry tweeted, “Stricter gun laws will not stop SICK people from getting access to guns…Laws & rules are not in the forefront of the mind of a criminal.” Mark’s Note; True
The NRA was staying quiet until the all the details surrounding the shooting become clear. Spokesman Andrew Arulanandams told Newsmax: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families and indeed the whole Aurora community. We will not make any further statements until all the facts are known.” Mark’s NOTE; A good question that the NRA and ALL Americans should ask themselves in the wake of this horrific crime, (What would the media/political outcry have been had a legally armed citizen taken this undiagnosed, yet still demented wacko out, thus stopping further bloodshed?) How would the story have been covered?
Support for gun control has fallen in recent years. Gallup says 78 percent wanted stricter gun laws in 1990, falling to 62 percent by 1995. By 2007 it was 51 percent and last year just 44 percent. Mark’s Note; This is because people are starting to see through media slant and political lies of those with a bad agenda for American freedom.
Summary: In the wake of this crime there has been renewed yet misplaced ‘debate’ about gun control within the elite media, (talking heads) and political circles on TV, it should center around crime control. The problem I have recognized watching these scripted shows now and over the years is the fact that the people involved do not want HONEST debate, many things that should be asked/answered are conveniently left out. Someone like you or myself, (one of the unwashed masses) would never be allowed to shed ‘light’ on the subject of firearms in America on national television.
Politicians in Washington DC are surrounded by an army of uniformed and plain clothed policemen along with special secret service details, they are quite secure in their little bubble, (on our dime). Yet they would dare even to consider taking away our unalienable right to self defense? Just who the hell do they think they are? We do not work for them….
I will leave off with words of wisdom from the past, you will rue the day should you be dismissive of these words: quote;- They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. unquote –Ben Franklin–

JFK at one time had gathered the top minds of the country together, at dinner he began by saying;“I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered at the White House – with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone”.
John F. KennedyThomas Jefferson quotes:“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes… Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” (Quoting Cesare Beccaria)
“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”
“Aware of the tendency of power to degenerate into abuse, the
worthies of our country have secured its independence by the
establishment of a Constitution and form of government for our
nation, calculated to prevent as well as to correct abuse.”
–Thomas Jefferson to Washington Tammany Society, 1809.“[The purpose of a written constitution is] to bind up the several
branches of government by certain laws, which, when they
transgress, their acts shall become nullity’s; to render
unnecessary an appeal to the people, or in other words a rebellion,
on every infraction of their rights, on the peril that their
acquiescence shall be construed into an intention to surrender
those rights.” –Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia, 1782. Q.XIII“I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this
ground: That “all powers not delegated to the United States, by
the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are
reserved to the States or to the people.” [10th Amendment]
To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specifically drawn
around the powers of Congress is to take possession of a boundless
field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition.” –Thomas
Jefferson: National Bank Opinion, 1791“Unless the mass retains sufficient control over those entrusted
with the powers of their government, these will be perverted to
their own oppression, and to the perpetuation of wealth and power
in the individuals and their families selected for the trust.
Whether our Constitution has hit on the exact degree of control
necessary, is yet under experiment.” –Thomas Jefferson to M.

The requirement to obtain permits in order to conceal a personal handgun may soon come to an end in 12 states where lawmakers are currently debating the permit requirement.
Supporters of the measure argue that crime rates are already low in Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming, states where a carry and conceal permit is not required. Gun-control advocates on the other hand believe the measure is part of a long-range strategy to weaken gun control laws in the United States.
In the meantime gun-control advocates worry that buyers will purchase and carry guns in public even when they have no experience shooting the weapons they buy. Opponents also worry that police officers will be at an increased risk of encountering bad situations in which concealed firearms play a part in their decision making processes.
States currently considering the no permit law include: Colorado, Iowa, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota and Virgina, according to the NRA.
The first state to jump into the mix appears to be South Dakota after lawmakers last week created a law allowing anyone 18 or older with a valid state driver’s license to carry a concealed weapon following a clean background check, that bill is still awaiting final approval from Republican Gov. Dennis Daugaard.
Other states have various laws already being argued in their respective houses and senate that would allow for non-permitted gun carry.
Do you think permits should be required for conceal carry or should a cleared background check be enough for anyone 18 years or older to hide a gun on their person? Leave your comment/opinion.

Federal judge says gun owners need not provide ‘good reason,’ rules Maryland law unconstitutional
Published March 05, 2012 FoxNews.com
BALTIMORE – Maryland residents do not have to provide a “good and substantial reason” to legally own a handgun, a federal judge ruled Monday, striking down as unconstitutional the state’s requirements for getting a permit.
U.S. District Judge Benson Everett Legg wrote that states are allowed some leeway in deciding the way residents exercise their Second Amendment right to bear arms, but Maryland’s objective was to limit the number of firearms that individuals could carry, effectively creating a rationing system that rewarded those who provided the right answer for wanting to own a gun.
Plaintiff Raymond Woollard obtained a handgun permit after fighting with an intruder in his Hampstead home in 2002, but was denied a renewal in 2009 because he could not show he had been subject to “threats occurring beyond his residence.”
Woollard appealed, but his appeal was rejected by the review board, which found he hadn’t demonstrated a “good and substantial reason” to carry a handgun as a reasonable precaution. The suit filed in 2010 claimed that Maryland didn’t have a reason to deny the renewal and wrongly put the burden on Woollard to show why he still needed to carry a gun.
“People have the right to carry a gun for self-defense and don’t have to prove that there’s a special reason for them to seek the permit,” said his attorney Alan Gura, who has challenged handgun bans in the District of Columbia and Chicago as an attorney with the Second Amendment Foundation. “We’re not against the idea of a permit process, but the licensing system has to acknowledge that there’s a right to bear arms.”
In his ruling, Legg wrote that Second Amendment protections aren’t limited to the household.
“In addition to self-defense, the (Second Amendment) right was also understood to allow for militia membership and hunting. To secure these rights, the Second Amendment’s protections must extend beyond the home: neither hunting nor militia training is a household activity, and ‘self-defense has to take place wherever (a) person happens to be,'” Legg wrote.
“Judge Legg’s ruling takes a substantial step toward restoring the Second Amendment to its rightful place in the Bill of Rights and provides gun owners with another significant victory,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “The federal district court has carefully spelled out the obvious, that the Second Amendment does not stop at one’s doorstep, but protects us wherever we have a right to be.”
The lawsuit names the state police superintendent and members of the Handgun Permit Review Board as defendants. A spokesman from Maryland’s attorney general’s office was not immediately available to comment.
Many states require gun permits, but six states, including Maryland, issue permits on a discretionary basis, Gura said. In most of those states, these challenges have not succeeded in U.S. District Courts, but they are being appealed, he said.
“Most states that choose to regulate the right to bear arms have licensing systems that are objective and straight forward,” Gura said. “That’s all that we want for Maryland.”
