In Massachusetts, as you read this, there is House Bill 2259 “An Act Relative to Civil Rights and Public Safety”, waiting to be passed. This bill has come about, in part, due to the archaic way that police chiefs from town to town and city to city invent ‘hoops’ against honest people that want only to exercise their right to self defense, there is nothing ‘uniform’ in the application process. The bill would impact the ability of those police chiefs who arbitrarily deny you, or arbitrarily restrict you your right to obtain a class ‘A’ LTC for ‘any lawful purpose’.
Arbitrary discretion is a dishonest disservice to honest people everywhere. The bill is sponsored by Representative George Peterson (R) 9th Worcester District, email, Rep.GeorgePeterson@hou.state.ma.us phone#617-722-2100. The bill should have bipartisan support if your ‘rep’ values our freedoms? You would be well advised to contact your Representative’s and help give this bill a ‘shove’ to be passed. You may call the State House at 617-722-2000 (switchboard operator will connect you), don’t be bashful when it comes to protecting your rights! Tell your Representative that there should be a “Shall Issue” clause for ‘Any Lawful Purpose’, within the bill, this would put a stop to arbitrary, capricious, or abuses of discretion by police chiefs once and for all, for the sake of all honest people.
Shall Issue means that if you have a clean record, or something that may be in your record but does not rise to the level of denial, then you will get the license you applied for, very straight forward. Honest people of the state need this bill, and it is up to you to let your Representative’s know that it is long, long over due. Call the State House and ask for the phone number to your Representative’s office, let him or her know that this is their chance to show they can actually work for us once in awhile. It is an election year, they might.
Let us ring in the new year with a bill that will give us back the unfettered freedom we need to defend ourselves, free of contrived, unwarrented restrictions placed upon our Second Amendment rights by, in some cases, politically appointed, unqualified ‘hacks’.
Sincerely, Mark Shean- written 1-5-2010. Now a word from one of our greatest Founding Fathers, he understood very well petty tyranny by individuals abusing authority:

We the People, in the good old days, (way, way back) that meant something, when people had better control of government, when people paid more attention and less taxes, when politicians meant their oath to office, before all kinds of electronic distractions. Now it begins WE the PROBLEM for sure.
Can we really blame the embedded hogs, (Representatives) feeding at the government trough? Not really. They have no idea that they may be doing anything wrong, why should they, they are never punished by WE the PROBLEM! They do as they please, not as we want. Our Representatives are caught acting inappropriately all the time, just open any newspaper or turn on any talk radio program, watch any television set. They will say anything just to get elected, and once they are in office they set about trying to change our Constitution to suit their own personal little agendas, and they never come through with any of those promises they made to get elected! Hell, they are in! The chase is on! Watch out! Incumbents never lose! No matter what happens, no matter how much of our tax money is wasted on pork projects and complete corruption, no matter how many immoral, or unethical or criminal scandals politicians are caught in they are rarely ever punished by WE the PROBLEM at the voting booth!.
Both parties stink, they could care less about you. Sure at voting time they lovvvve you, they surely take certain factions within each party for granted. They do not have to promise anything to get the hardliner, (brainless) votes. The so-called independent voters are the ones politicians will get real creative in their lies to snare, the coveted ‘swing’ voters. No matter how many decades we see their mugs again and again running for another four to six year term, we just keep rewarding them, over and over and over! Why in the world would they, or could they, ever know they have done anything wrong? Because of WE the PROBLEM re-electing them.
They draw up the laws they will not lower themselves to follow, these laws are meant for the ‘little people’, not for scofflaw politicians. Don’t forget that this problem is also at the state level, not just D.C.! I would love to see a third party mount a viable challenge, and win! Lets call it the American, or Constitutional or Tea Party. If that were to happen it would scare the bejesus out of the Republicans and the Democrats, really shake up their little house of ill repute so-to-speak.
We have a chance at the polls to really shake up the status quo, the incentive for change in D.C. is compelling. The health care debacle is one economic killer, the porkulus plan was another economic killer, bailing out huge firms with our tax dollars was extremely ill conceived and we are now heading for higher inflation just over the horizon. The morons in office don’t read the laws they pass! Do you really think that by voting the same faces back in every term you will somehow get a different result? Obviously WE the PROBLEM do, and have foolishly believed that! But will WE continue too?
Congress is a luxury liner with no apparent rudder, their only answer is to tax everything and everyone, in a recession no less!! WE the PROBLEM allow them. In we have a choice, we can remain WE the PROBLEM, or we can once more become WE the PEOPLE, whats it going to be? Are you fed up with the BS yet? Our Founding Fathers never intended for Representative’s to make careers or ‘dynasty’s’, or millions out of the job. Term limits not only for a President but for ALL of them! November tell them all with a hearty, YOUR FIRED!

The Obama Administration appointed Mr. Mark Lloyd as head of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as the “Diversity Czar”. Mr Lloyd has made statements about striping away the licenses of many conservative radio talk shows, and he is in a position now to do just that, exempt from Congressional debate or approval. Democrats in power would love that to happen, and will turn a blind eye, it would be no less than another full fledged attack on the First Amendment, just as the McCain /Finegold bill has been. This is an actual quote from Mark Lloyd; “Conservative talk radio dominates the airwaves of our country to the detriment of informed public discourse and the First Amendment”.
Just so you know, a so-called ‘Czar’, and Obama has appointed many, do not have to answer to Congress, they are their own little dictator wannabes. They are not elected by the people, they do not have to answer to we the people, and they should be done away with by Congress! Secretary of State Clinton is another appointee, unelected official, poised to sign a U.N. small arms agreement, (the ATT) that would take away every Americans Second Amendment rights at the stroke of her pen, with little debate in Congress! These ‘czar’s/appointees, only answer to Obama, and if he says nothing about what they do then he, in essence, wants them to usurp the Constitution, (some change)!
In the real world if you or I do not want to listen to conservative radio shows we turn the channel, that’s called freedom of choice, in Lloyds little dictatorship world he wants to silence conservative radio, (Fairness Doctrine), I do not hear Obama weigh in on this issue because he hates to be exposed by conservative radio. Why in the world do we need Congress if they cannot stop unconstitutional attacks by Obama’s Czars? If they cannot stop these Czars than what good is Congress to the American people? Maybe their only job is to spend our tax dollars like drunken sailors, they are experts at that.
We the People need to pressure Congress, tell them their cozy little jobs are on the line if they do not do something about eliminating these ‘Czars’. Czar’s need to be made formally unconstitutional! We the People put Congress in office for representation, and to hold them accountable in that representation, we do not want czars that are not elected by us, making decisions that are unaccountable to us, that is not the American way! That is the Communist way! As far as Mark Lloyd gearing up to shut down conservative talk radio, listen to the still relevant words of a great American:
{“Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech“} –BENJAMIN FRANKLIN –
Congress is suppose to be there for ‘checks and balances’, I don’t see any of that going on! Term limits in 2010!

When I first heard the story of the tragedy of an 8 year old boy dieing at the Westfield Ma. gun club my initial reaction was anger at the gun club and sympathy for the young boy’s family. I had to wonder what was going on in the minds of these so-called firearm instructors? There had to have been more than one instructor at an event that allowed the public in to shoot. There also should have been a ‘Range Master’ overseeing the event and the other instructors. If all of these instructors were certified and dedicated to safety, it is hard for me to understand how this fatality would or could have happened? (But I do have a good idea.)
I have read that the 8 year old was being watched by a 15 year old ‘instructor’, OK, maybe this 15 year old could have been certified, how I’m not sure, but for sub machine guns, not very probable. In any case I would want proof of any certification, and in what discipline. The certifications should have all been on display. I have heard people say that the blame lies with the dead boys father, a doctor, I strongly disagree with that, and I will tell you why…
When we go to a doctor we entrust our care to him, we know that his field is medicine and that we should be in good hands even though we do not understand all he is doing. He has had years of education in his background. The same can be held as true for many other trades or professions. Examples can go on and on. In this case with the boys father, he brought his son to what looked to him to be an unusual and interesting event. This event was being run by people that were supposed to know what they were doing in the field of firearms, so the father placed his faith in that, as did many others that day.
There is a lot more that go’s into having the label of ‘Firearm Instructor’ on your shirt, you should have accumulated knowledge and understanding about many types of firearms and the characteristic’s. This can take years. An individual that becomes a firearm instructor should understand how to reload many types of ammunition and understand the ballistics, trajectories and pressures involved, and understand basic kinetics. He should know how to strip down many kinds of firearms and understand the inner workings. At the very least, he should know how to instruct people in the proper mechanics or elements of shooting from very basic to advanced. To do this he needs to be able to study people in order to correct what they are doing wrong while they shoot. He should be no less than an expert shot himself in all manner of firearms* in order to impart more effectively what he knows to others about the fundamentals.
All this takes dedication to the sport. I feel very strongly that the 8 year old boy that died was not served by people with this dedication to the firearms sport, or he would be alive today. *Did the 15 year old have all this accumulated knowledge? I would say the answer is no, he has not lived long enough, or become mature enough. The people that were running the event actually allowed safety to be trumped by perceived ‘fun‘ which lead directly to the boys death. Firearms are far to unforgiving of foolish mistakes. When it comes to firearms a true instructor knows that safety can never be trumped by ‘fun’, it would never be allowed. This death can be summed up in two unfortunate words, gross negligence.
A micro Uzi is a fully automatic weapon and should have never, under any circumstances been placed in an 8 year old hands. A child that age is years away from having developed the muscular strength, coordination, or understanding to handle such a weapon, for this not to be understood by these so-called instructors is in and of itself criminal negligence in my opinion. What ever justice is meted out in court will have been fully deserved. I do not hold the 15 year old ‘instructor’ to blame, only the imbeciles that put him in charge. Sadly the court can never return the little boy to his family, but hopefully it will send a loud and clear message to gun clubs to have instructors that will never allow fun to trump safety.

On Oct. 27th in the news, a vicious knife attack occurred at the Ma. General Hospital in Boston, wherein the victim of this attack, Astrid Desrosiers, a doctor, was stabbed multiple times by a psychiatric patient, Jay Carciero, 37, who was there for a scheduled appointment. Also on the same floor at the time of the attack was an armed off duty, (note, civilian) security officer, Paul Langone. District Attorney Daniel Conley, in his news conference described the actions of Paul Langone as ‘under investigation’ but reluctantly conceded Mr. Langone’s actions likely saved the life of the doctor and possibly others as well.
When I heard this story on the channel 7 evening news, (which I rarely watch) the thing that stood out to me, in crystal clear fashion, was the questions directed to the A.G. by the media. They were all along the lines of why did Paul Langone have a gun, instead of how did the assailant get the knife, or what is the condition of the doctor? Did Langone have a permit for that gun? Why was he there on that floor? Are you going to file charges against Mr. Langone for carrying a gun? Can he legally carry a gun in Boston? Did he have the right to shoot the assailant? The District Attorney looked like he was walking on a tightrope twenty stories high with no net in thirty mile an hour gusts. It was obvious to me that he would have loved to say that he wanted to hang Mr. Langone from the highest tree, but could not say it.
When all is said and done, to his chagrin, the A.G. will probably have to pin a medal on Mr. Langone, and the media will have the uncomfortable and distasteful job of covering the ceremony of a legal gun owning hero. Something tells me that the doctor he saved will not be trying to second guess Langone’s actions, or find fault in legal gun ownership after she recovers, I would be happy to give her the gun safety course putting her on the right path to gun ownership, so that if there is ever a next time she will not need to hope for another miracle to save her.
The next day in the Boston Herald this story was back on page five, the front cover was completely taken up by a story about city workers visiting Facebook while they work! Shock of shocks! Almost all of page two was concerned with some big baby Celtic basketball player that broke his thumb in a fight, real news worthy stuff. Page three was devoted to the dead pervert waco Jaco’s movie review, the Herald certainly has its priorities straight! Page four was a carry over from from the front page about city workers using Facebook during work hours, big big news! And finally on page five a small article about the stabbing victim,(doctor) being saved by a citizen with a legal gun. I guarantee that if the doctor had died at the hands of the madman, and there had been no one to stop him, that it would have been front page news, without a shadow of a doubt! What do you think?
The National Enquirer looks more credible than the Boston Herald, and has for quite some time, sad. It has been ruled in court, (at least ten times across the country and in the Supreme Court) that the state has no obligation to protect the individual from being murdered by criminals or madmen. That is a loud and clear message that we are on our own! The thing that burns me to no end is this, places that deny you your right to gun ownership, or strictly restrict it, will also state that you or your surviving family have no case against the city or state if you are murdered, officials take no responsibility, but they will do their best to throw you in jail if you disobey their “reasonable gun control measures”.
I would like to hear your comments on this, or any of my articles. I strongly suggest that all incumbents are voted OUT of office, that we may start fresh with people that are not afraid of our Second Amendment! Please send your prayers for the Doctors speedy recovery. Mark Shean www.mafirearmsafety.com written 10-31-2009
Note: An April 1st 2010 article, (blurb) in the Boston Hearld,( No Charges for hero off-duty officer who shot knife wielding man at MGH). Almost 7 months after the fact, the D.A. Daniel Conley finally says, following the ‘investigation’, that Langone acted to defend himself and Dr. Astrid Desrosiers when he fired the three shots. NRA and Relevance, in my opinion.
Gun control, sounds reasonable when politicians speak on it and the media lets the phrase slide on by without any follow-up questions. Gun control has nothing what-so-ever to do with crime, or guns, they are the scapegoat, it is one hundred percent about attempting political control over our lives. You see, there are plenty of laws already on the books dealing with crime, yet crime happens, laws cannot stop evil intent, and when a particularly brutal crime grabs the headlines most politicians see an opportunity to get their mugs in the paper or on television to push their anti gun , anti Second Amendment agenda/crap. The billionaire socialist Bloomberg, once mayor of New York city is one such example, all high profile New York/Ma./Ca./NJ/Chicago politicians are prime examples.
The politicians and police, in their frustration to stop crime focus their attention on an easy target, you. This is why the NRA is the hated organization of many socialist leaning politicians, because the NRA comes to your defense. The NRA has over 4 million members and fights extremely hard to preserve our Second Amendment freedoms. Is the NRA relevant? You bet your firearm freedom it is. There are an estimated 100 million law abiding gun owners in the United States, if they were to all suddenly join the NRA, politicians would pale and never dare speak of gun control again, it would become political suicide to do so. Is the NRA relevant, again, you bet your overall freedom it is. And because so many politicians hate the NRA that is all the endorsement I need to be a member.

Under Article IV, Sec. I of the Constitution it reads…….”Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof.” Note: This means that you will not, and should never need fifty drivers license’s to cross our United States. That all states will, and do, acknowledge formally a specified factual or legal document issued from any other state. Example; your birth certificates, your marriage license’s, and of course something connected to that danged inconvenient Second Amendment, I’m referring to your legally issued firearm license. It annoys politicians, it does not suit their purposes, makes it more difficult for them to make America a ‘gun free zone’, gee whiz !
Under Art. IV Sec. I, you should never need more than one legally issued firearm permit, from the state in which you live, to be recognized by every other state! They, (each state) are ‘bound’ by the Constitution to honor the issuing states gun license to you. If you have passed the legal requirements, (background checks) etc. and have shown yourself to be a law abiding citizen as recognized by the licensing authority, why should you be treated any differently by any other state? That is a good hardball question to direct at your ‘Representatives’, especially at election time! Watch em squirm!
We are AMERICAN CITIZENS,(emphasis added) our citizenship does not end at the state line wherein we live. Our citizenship is good from coast to coast! All our legal documents are good from coast to coast! Make that crystal clear to your public servants! Our so-called ‘representatives’ could not take the time to read the “stimulus bill” before voting on it and plunging us all into a black hole of debt. In my opinion, based on their actions, they have never bothered to read the Constitution either. I believe, judging by what I see and hear, their arrogance is starting to push the ‘buttons’ of millions of Americans.
If politicians are stupid enough to continue disregarding the document that they swore to uphold, (the Constitution) just to gain public office, then they all need to be swept from office. Watch what they have done and do. NEVER rely on what they say! We can vote for better people. We should all demand that every state respect our gun rights as American citizens! -Mark Shean- www.mafirearmsafety.com written 9-30-2009
If anyone has been paying any attention to anything other than sports they will know that Governor Patrick (D) has been given the green light from our Bacon Hill ‘representatives’ to appoint an interim Kennedy rump swab, to sit in the vacant Senate seat until a special election in January. That race will be for any candidate who can come closest to convincing the blue hairs of the state that he lives and breaths everything ‘Kennedy’ more than anyone else.
The very same ‘representatives’ took the power to appoint away from Governor Romney while Kerry was running for President, just in case Kerry had won and his seat had become vacant. They were scared to death that Romney would have appointed a, gasp, Republican! And that their stranglehold on corrupt politics would be compromised. Our so called ‘representatives’ claim that they believe the good people of Massachusetts should not have any lapse in representation in Washington and that they are only looking out for the People.
The media does not challenge the politicians at all with facts when they make this claim. If the media did their job they would point out to the politicians that while Kennedy was sick where was the concern that the People were not being represented? The media should have asked why no one had come forth to ask Kennedy to do the right thing and resign in the interest of the People’s right to have continuous representation? While Kerry was running for office where was the concern from the politicians on Bacon Hill that Kerry was neglecting his duty to represent the People for over a year!? Where were those questions from the media? When we now hear from our so called ‘representatives’ claiming they think its only fair for the People to have continuous representation in the aftermath of Kennedy’s death they are being disingenuous in capital letters! “Disingenuous”; {Insincere, a synonym of cynical or calculating, not straightforward, hypocritical}. Id like to cut straight to the quick and say exactly what they are doing, lying.
The real reason that they suddenly pretend to think of the People is because they want that all important Senate vote that will push the health care ‘obamanation’ bill down the whole countries throat! Chicago politicians have nothing over Massachusetts politicians where corruption is concerned. Do you think our bailing out the banks and big corporations has been expensive up to this point in history? It has been, but socialized health care will make everything else look like chicken feed by comparison!
When I hear people say the Government should provide health care for everyone, I know they do not understand in the least that the government does not have one penny to its name. The money the government spreads around with such reckless abandon is OUR money, the tax payers money! We are the government. And it is damned high time we reminded our servants in Washington of that FACT next November, that should be a day of reckoning. The embedded ticks, I mean politicians, can not be bothered to read big expensive bills that bankrupt our country, they just shove them down our throats, tax us ever higher to pay for them and say that they are looking out for us, do you still believe that crap?! -Mark Shean- www.mafirearmsafety.com written 9=23-2009
What part of ‘shall not be infringed ‘ do certain politicians and judges pretend NOT to understand? They know that when they remove the peoples right to keep and bear arms they will be creating a subservient society. Never allow them to succeed! Punish them in the voting booth!-
Mark Shean- www.mafirearmsafety.com written 8-24-2009
I was thinking the other day about the brief, yet ongoing history of the United States, since its becoming an independent nation, brief in years compared to other countries. In comparison it has only been around a fraction of time in written world history. In that short span of time the history of the United States has been rich, one of monumental diversity with worldwide and lasting significance.
The wisdom of America’s Founding Fathers has spanned the centuries. They foresaw, through their works, the freedoms and security of countless unborn generations of American citizens in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. They built in checks and balances between the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches of government, to ensure that no one branch would become to powerful by creating a Republic. They saw far beyond the ‘horizon’ of time they were to spend here on earth. They wanted to effect in a positive way, the lives of you and I, our great great grand children and beyond. They were amazing in the shear selflessness of their deeds and sacrifice’s. Their legacy has endured through the sacrifices that every day Americans have made and make to preserve our freedoms today.
I am not a history teacher, I just have a love for history and firmly believe it should be revisited often to avoid repeating mistakes today from lessons already learned yesterday. I have seen a not- so- gradual erosion on our freedoms in my time, from where you might not expect or should expect enemies of freedom to be, from within government, from some of our ‘public servants’. We live only a brief time on this earth, and in the time we as individuals are here it would be nice to think that we could make a positive impact in some small way, leave the world a little better than when we came into it. Our Founding Fathers certainly set the bar high in that regard, but now what I see from our ‘Representatives’ is a bar so low that we are starting to trip over it.
There are politicians in the United States today that want to take away our rights, unconstitutionally. One such example, (but not the only one) that has been submitted by a Bobby Rush (D) of the First District in Chicago recently is House bill H.R.45. This House bill would make it illegal to own any firearm at all, unless it is registered, you are fingerprinted, you undergo a physical and mental evaluation at a time of the governments choosing, also each ‘update’ to your firearm information will be charged a fee of, ($25 dollars) but subject to change, (of course). Failure to do so and you lose the ‘privilege’ of gun ownership and, of course, you are threatened with jail time! There is more, much more, but you need to google this bill, seeing is believing! You can also find H.R.45 at NRA.org.
I have to ask myself, what makes any one of our representatives think they were ever given any mandate from us to propose such foolish and unconstitutionally dangerous bills? Is the legacy they want to leave while only briefly on this earth, one that will ensure untold future generations of Americans will not have freedoms that we, as Americans, have always enjoyed? What makes them think they have any right to take away the free choice of these yet unborn Americans? Why is their goal to strip away a birthright? A birthright that is ensured by our Constitution. What Bobby Rush would like to do is taken straight from Adolf Hitlers,(any dictators) playbook.
Hitler imposed gun registration just prior to confiscating all firearms from the Jewish people leading directly to their Holocaust. The gun registration tactic is in the history books. That is why it is unconstitutional in our Constitution. That does not seem to slow down some politicians that want judges to override parts of the Constitution that they seem to find offensive! Dictators worldwide, throughout history, have subscribed to gun registration/control. The tactic, if allowed, subjugates us.
Will Americans fall for the tactic? I do not believe an estimated 100 million American gun owners or the public in general will ever roll over like sheep for Bobby Rush and a few pompous socialist elitists in Washington D.C.! Gun control is not about guns, it’s about control, it is about taking away freedom. Let’s vote out every incumbent and incorporate voter term limits in 2010!
