After you receive your State Firearm Safety Certification the first thing you should know is that it will be a waste of your time if you go to the police station thinking that you can just walk in and fill out the gun permit application, 99% of police stations will send you away and tell you to make an appointment. So save your time by following these tips and good advice. It is not really an ‘Interview’ in the sense you might think, what they want is for you to fill out an application, they take your picture, your fingerprints, and your $100…….

1.    Call the police station first, ask for the person in charge of licensing, get his/her name, extension #, and email, if he has no email get the police department email. The email will be real handy when it is time to renew your license 6 years later, because two months before your birthday you should contact the police by email to let them know your license will be expiring  and that you would like to set up an appointment to fill out an application to renew it. SAVE the email as proof you contacted the police and started the process. If your birthday comes and you have not yet filled out the application because the police have not brought you in for an appointment, by law they will have to honor your ‘expired’ license for an additional 90 days, email them again with attached copy of the original email. Note: If you are a Plymouth resident you will need to email Marsha at Bruillard@plymouthpolice.com  do not call her.

OH NO!!   If you forget to start the process to renew, and your birthday passes by before you think about it, then you realize and run to the station very concerned that your license has expired, the police will tell you that since you allowed it to expire you will need to turn in your guns. They can also fine you $500 for allowing it to expire, that fine is on the books though I have not heard of anyone being fined. If you now have no license you can not legally take your guns to the station, you will need someone else to go with you that does have a license. A friend or relative can hold your guns for you but will need to write a note to the police that has this information on it : Name, gun license #, address, phone#, and the note saying he will take responsibility for your guns while you renew your license, by law the police will/should accept this.  Some police chiefs will tell you to take the firearm safety course for another certificate first, as a ‘hoop’ to put you through.

The moral to this story should be not to forget to start the process. Even though the state is supposed to send you a notice that your license is about to expire two months before it expires, don’t hold your breath for that notice. I have been renewing my license since 1970 and have NEVER recieved a notice, some of my friends have and others have not, so it is a hit or miss proposition. Note: If you decide that you no longer want a license, before it expires you would need to be rid of  guns in your name.

2.  Take note of the date of your application appointment, go 40 days out and note that date on your calendar also, this is the ‘window’ they have to deny or approve your permit.  If you are denied you will receive a letter from the police stating why,(this can be appealed, see #13, #20 Gun Sense).  After 40 days if you have not been denied, your not going to be, every town has experienced longer than the normal turn around time legally prescribed by the state, (the state is breaking it’s own law)  for these licenses, now you need to just be patient.

3. Next, as you look at the front of the application you will see license choices, if your 21 years or older check off class ‘A’ Large Capacity, if your under age 21 choose FID. As you read you will find a question that asks for your reason for the license, put three words here, ‘Any Lawful Purpose’. If for some bizarre reason, (known only to them) the police in your town do not like giving a license for lawful reasons,,,, use this as your second choice: ‘For Personal Protection’, it is a silly matter of semantics’s as far as I can see.  If you are required to bring letters of recommendation please read G.S. #33. If you are required to write a letter as to what your ‘reason‘ or ‘need’ is for wanting a license please read G.S. #19.  If they try to insist that they are going to give you a license you do not want, class ‘B’ for instance, simply refuse it, tell them you would like a letter from them stating why you are being denied the license you applied for. If you know you should not be denied as stated in 4 below, stand your ground, don’t be needlessly bullied. Read G.S. #13.

4. There are three set reasons to be denied, If you have been a Felon, if you have been convicted of Substance Abuse, if you have been incarcerated in a Mental Facility against your will, (by court order). There is a fourth reason also, ‘Dishonesty‘.

G. S.  #34 Excerpt:  There is a range of questions about being convicted for certain things. The application is not looking for parking tickets/moving violations. It is absolutely imperative that if you have been in front of a judge at some point in your life for some other reason, even if ultimately nothing  came of it, you need to mention it, it is already part of your record and they want you to repeat what they already know about you. If something was ‘dismissed’ make sure you emphasize that it was dismissed, or, ‘continued without a finding’, or, ‘expired’. If you leave something out it is deemed a ‘lie by omission’, ( dishonesty) and grounds for denial.

  5.   There is not much room on the application to write down what you may need to say about something that once happened to you. So at home write it on a sheet of paper to the best of your recollection, make a copy of it for your gun file, ( save copies of anything you submit) because you will need this information every six years. When you come to a question that pertains to you write ‘see attached paperwork’. If you want a copy of your state CORI record,(that you could also submit) go to #34 G.S. and follow the prompts.

     This question comes up quite frequently in my classes: ‘Do I have to tell the police that I have a gun or a gun license if I get pulled over?’ I will start by saying that in many other states when a police officer pulls you over, and if you do have a gun license, the first words out of your mouth will have to be “I have a gun license”, if you do not say that as the first thing out of your mouth you will be arrested. If you say ‘hello’ before you say ’I have a gun license’, you will be arrested. But this is not a requirement/law here in Ma.

    When you are pulled over on the highways or byways in Ma. you are not being pulled over because you happen to be a legal gun license holder, no, you most likely are being pulled over for a motor vehicle violation/infraction of some sort, typically speeding as the most common reason.

    As a gun license holder of a Ma. class ‘A’ LTC or FID you may be, or you might not be carrying or have a long gun in the car at the time when you are pulled over. Following is an important ‘tip’ for you to seriously consider for handguns. Even though most of us can easily reach our glove box from behind the steering wheel in the little shoe boxes that pass as cars these days, and even though you would be considered under ‘direct control’ because you can easily reach the glove box, NEVER have a hand gun where your car registration ‘lives‘, do you see where I am going with this? The police officer asking for your drivers license, proof of insurance and registration does not know you from a hole in the wall, he does NOT need to see a handgun tumble from your glove box, bad things could happen to you from there…….use your own imagination on this one. He/she would have a legitimate reason to be very ’upset’ with you.

    When the officer runs your information in his cruiser computer he will see that you are a legal gun license holder, so what? As I said before, you are not being pulled over because you happen to be a legal gun license holder. If  the officer asks if you are carrying, this is as far as that conversation needs to go; ‘Yes sir I am” or if not “No sir, not today” don’t lie about it, there is no legitimate reason for the conversation about a legal gun license to go any farther. If a police officer says he would like to search your car, and you know there is no reason or ‘probable cause’ for him to do so, don’t be bullied, ask if he has a search warrant, this should end any fishing trip in its tracks.

    There are police officers out there, (few) that may try to treat you badly because they personally do not like the idea of anyone having a gun license, or maybe they are young, (rookies) and possess far more authority than they possess matureity, not a very good combination for public relations/service. My advice is to politely listen to the unprofessional rant, at the end of the tirade ask for his/her badge number and name. Write the chief a letter clearly detailing what happened including time of day and date, any witnesses etc, then cc, (courtesy copy) it at the end of the letter to the towns selectmen, by name, to your lawyer, by name, and to your personal ’file’.  Be sure to send it certified mail with return receipt to all listed, this way everyone will be on the same ‘sheet of music’ in this matter. You will be doing the chief/town a favor in the long run. The chief may already have complaints against this person and knows he needs to nip it in the bud before it costs the town a lawsuit.

was replaced by frightened screams. The two victims, a 14-
year-old boy and a 19-year-old man, were hospitalized.

March 8, 2009 – Maryville, Illinois – Suspect Terry Joe
Sedlacek, 27, of Troy, walks into the First Baptist Church,
and shoots pastor Fred Winters dead, point blank. Several
church members are injured by a knife in the struggle to
capture after the attack, The suspect also had stabbed
himself, but survived, when his gun jams.

July 27, 2008 – Knoxville, Tennessee – A gunman opens fire
in a church during a youth performance, killing two people
and injuring seven.

Dec. 9, 2007 – Colorado – Three people are killed and five
wounded in two shooting rampages, one at a missionary
school in suburban Denver and one at a church in Colorado
Springs. The gunman in the second incident is killed by a
guard.

May 20, 2007 – Moscow, Idaho – A standoff between police
and a suspect in the shootings of three people in a
Presbyterian Church ended with three dead, including one
police officer.

Aug. 12, 2007 – Neosho, Missouri – First Congregational
Church – 3 killed – Eiken Elam Saimon shot and killed the
pastor and two deacons and wounded five others.

May 21, 2006 – Baton Rouge, Louisiana – The Ministry of
Jesus Christ Church – 4 killed – The four at the church who
were shot were members of Erica Bell’s family; she was
abducted and murdered elsewhere; Bell’s mother, church
pastor Claudia Brown, was seriously wounded – Anthony Bell,
25, was the shooter.

Feb. 26, 2006 – Detroit, Michigan – Zion Hope Missionary
Baptist Church – 2 killed + shooter – Kevin L. Collins, who
reportedly went to the church looking for his girlfriend,
later killed himself.

April 9, 2005 – College Park, Georgia – A 27-year-old
airman died after being shot at a church, where he had once
worked as a security guard.

March 12, 2005 – Brookfield, Wisconsin – Living Church of
God – 7 killed + shooter – Terry Ratzmann opened fire on
the congregation, killing seven and wounding four before
taking his own life.

July 30, 2005 – College Park, Georgia – World Changers
Church International – shooter killed – Air Force Staff
Sgt. John Givens was shot five times by a police officer
after charging the officer, following violent behavior.

Dec. 17, 2004, Garden Grove, Calif.: A veteran musician at
the Crystal Cathedral shoots himself to death after a nine
-hour standoff.

Oct. 5, 2003 – Atlanta, Georgia – Turner Monumental AME
Church – 2 killed + shooter – Shelia Wilson walked into the
church while preparations are being made for service and
shot the pastor, her mother and then herself.

June 10, 2002 – Conception, Missouri – Benedictine
monastery – 2 killed + shooter – Lloyd Robert Jeffress shot
four monks in the monastery killing two and wounding two,
before killing himself.

March 12, 2002 – Lynbrook, New York – Our Lady of Peace
Catholic Church – 2 killed – Peter Troy, a former mental
patient, opens fire during Mass, killing the priest and a
parishioner. He later receives a life sentence.

May 18, 2001 – Hopkinsville, Kentucky – Greater Oak
Missionary Baptist Church – 2 killed – Frederick Radford
stood up in the middle of a revival service and began
shooting at his estranged wife, Nicole Radford, killing her
and a woman trying to help her.

Sept. 15, 1999 – Fort Worth, Texas – Wedgewood Baptist
Church – 7 killed + shooter – Larry Gene Ashbrook shot dead
seven people and injured a further seven at a concert by
Christian rock group Forty Days in Fort Worth, Texas before
killing himself.

April 15, 1999 – Salt Lake City, Utah – LDS Church Family
History Library – 2 killed + shooter – Sergei Babarin, 70,
with a history of mental illness, entered the library,
killed two people and wounded four others before he was
gunned down by police.

Summary: There are other/more examples of church shootings where we would ‘think’ we are safe.

The fact is that there is no such thing as gun free ‘safe’ zones or child safe neighborhoods for that matter. Where there is a ‘gun free zone’ there is the chance a deranged predator will use the fact that no one can defend themselves to his/her best advantage. Increasingly I have given my firearm safety class to groups from houses of worship including Pastors. There are people out there that do not honor the laws of man nor God. Self defense is your God given right, consider arming yourself. Unfortunately, in most cases the police come as the ‘clean-up crew’.

Subject: Columbine Student’s Father 12 years  later. Guess our national ‘leaders’ didn’t expect this. On Thursday May 27th 1999, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee. What he said to our national ’leaders’ during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful. They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well.  It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness.

The following is a portion of the transcript:

“Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for  answers.

“The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain’s heart.

“In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA – because I don’t believe that they are responsible for my daughter’s death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel’s murder I would be their strongest opponent.

I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy — it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room! Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air. You’ve stripped away our heritage, You’ve outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die. You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question “Why?” You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed. And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need!

“Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation’s history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine’s tragedy occurs –politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws.

Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.

“As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools.

Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your  finger at the NRA — I give to you a sincere challenge. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter’s death will not be in vain! Facts are nasty little things aren’t they?  Here are some the media buried.

A 1997 High School shooting in Pearl Miss., was halted by the school principal after he retrieved the Colt .45 he kept in his truck.

A 1998 middle school shooting ended when a man living next door heard gunfire and apprehended the shooter with his shotgun.

A 2002 terrorist attack at an Israeli school was quickly stopped by an armed teacher and a school guard.

A 2002 law school shooting in Grundy, Va., came to an abrupt conclusion when students carrying firearms confronted the shooter.

A 2007 mall shooting in Ogden, Utah, ended when an armed off-duty police officer intervened.

A 2009 workplace shooting in Houston, Texas, was halted by two co-workers who carried concealed handguns.

A 2012 church shooting in Aurora, Colo., was stopped by a member of the congregation carrying a gun.

At a recent mall shooting in Portland, Ore., the gunman took his own life minutes after being confronted by a shopper carrying a concealed weapon.

Approxamately 2500 times last year alone legal gun owners stopped violent crime when confronted with it long before any police assistance.

Of course, you probably didn’t know any of this because the ‘mainstream’ media elite doesn’t find it worth reporting, they would rather exercise the First Amendment with lies by ‘omission’ instead.  These stories are not sensational enough and doesn’t fit in with their agenda of disarming America.

What is really insane is people,(politicians) who think removing rights from responsible people will somehow keep us all safe!  

Governor Patrick, and so-called ‘Rep’. David Linsky (D), among others have come up with a very ‘shady’ and reprehensible scheme to try to force gun registration on all legal gun owners in the ‘guise’ of ‘safety’. I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale cheap if you believe that one. It worked (briefly….) for Hitler and Stalin along with many other dictators in the past and present, and now our very own dictator wanna-be politicians today want to give it a whirl!! Gooood luck!

Politicians who are in ‘bed’ with the insurance companies may try to force everyone, (under threat of course) to buy liability insurance for their guns in Ma. This has NOTHING to do with safety or preventing crime, (proper storage laws are already on the books, as are safety classes) and EVERYTHING to do with another creative way to start a (backdoor) gun registration scheme while making themselves rich with ‘kick-backs’ from the insurance lobby! How can you be ‘forced’ to buy the insurance if they don’t know what you own until you REGISTER your guns? Threats issued from your so-called self serving ‘Reps’ is the only way. Tell them to pound sand! Make SURE you threaten them with your vow to unseat these career leeches in the next election cycle! Why do you think that when you get a speeding ticket that you have to pay your auto insurance co. additional money in penalties for the next 7 years thereafter? You did no damage to the car that is insured, or to anyone else’s car or property did you? Every time someone gets a speeding ticket politicians in this state profit from it! They are in bed with the insurance companies. They will profit from this so-called ’gun liability insurance’ scam also!

Lawful gun owners have absolutely NO obligation to comply with an unlawful dictate such as this. It is a direct violation of our Constitutional rights, trying to effectively price us out of our Second Amendment!! It discriminates against lower income Americans, of any color, who may live in crime ridden areas by making it imposable for them to ’afford’ their Constitutional right to self defense, hell, $100 to apply for a gun license in this politically asinine state does that for many! The people we loosely call ‘representative’s' who would go along with this get rich quick scheme for themselves should be tried for treason, and imprisoned in forsaking the oath they took when gaining public office. We all know the oath they took as a solemn vow to UPHOLD the entire Constitution! They were all eager to swear the oath, once in office they appear just as eager to forsake it in order to line their pockets with bribes from special interest groups.

Firearms are the only consumer product that is protected in our Constitution, politicians with an eye to totally controlling the masses hate the Second Amendment and will try any scheme/scam to circumvent it! The criminals will all line up for the insurance………..SURE!

You going to throw all lawful gun owners in jail Deval and Linsky? How many criminal acts will that stop?! NONE!  You and your ilk know that!  You have an ulterior motive. We are under NO obligation to comply with your unconstitutional/unlawful schemes/dictates!

OBAMACARE PROTECTS GUN RIGHTS–Senate amendment 3276, Sec. 2716, part c.

It seems that in their haste to cram socialized medicine down the throats of all the American people, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Barack Obama overlooked Senate amendment 3276, Sec. 2716, part c. c) PROTECTION OF SECOND AMENDMENT GUN RIGHTS.– “(1) WELLNESS AND PREVENTION PROGRAMS.–

A wellness and health promotion activity implemented under subsection (a)(1)(D) may not require the disclosure or collection of any information relating to– “(A) the presence or storage of a lawfully-possessed firearm or ammunition in the residence or on the property of an individual; or “(B) the lawful use, possession, or storage of a firearm or ammunition by an individual.

“(2) LIMITATION ON DATA COLLECTION.–

None of the authorities provided to the Secretary under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or an amendment made by that Act shall be construed to authorize or may be used for the collection of any information relating to–

“(A) the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition;

“(B) the lawful use of a firearm or ammunition; or

“(C) the lawful storage of a firearm or ammunition.

“(3) LIMITATION ON DATABASES OR DATA BANKS.–

None of the authorities provided to the Secretary under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or an amendment made by that Act shall be construed to authorize or may be used to maintain records of individual ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition.

“(4) LIMITATION ON DETERMINATION OF PREMIUM RATES OR ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH INSURANCE.–A premium rate may not be increased, health insurance coverage may not be denied, and a discount, rebate, or reward offered for participation in a wellness program may not be reduced or withheld under [Page: S13491] GPO’s PDF any health benefit plan issued pursuant to or in accordance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or an amendment made by that Act on the basis of, or on reliance upon–

“(A) the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition; or “(B) the lawful use or storage of a firearm or ammunition. “(5)

LIMITATION ON DATA COLLECTION REQUIREMENTS FOR INDIVIDUALS.–

No individual shall be required to disclose any information under any data collection activity authorized under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or an amendment made by that Act relating to–

“(A) the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition; or

“(B) the lawful use, possession, or storage of a firearm or ammunition.

”. (f) Section 2718 of the Public Health Service Act, as added by section 1001(5), is amended to read as follows:

On Jan. 1, many parts of the Obamacare legislation became active, including the tax requirements/burden on working middle class Americans  to begin funding its later full implementation. This means that many parts of national health care are already being enforced, including the amendment on gun and ammunition registration.

This is comical, but not what really protects us from dictator wanna-be’s, for that we have the Constitution, a much hated ‘roadblock’ to these same wanna-be’s such as Finestine,  Boxer, Schumer, Biden/Obama, Bloomberg, Pelosi and all their ilk at any level of government.

Since the Democrats no longer have control over the House of Representatives as they did in 2009 when the original bill was passed, repealing this amendment would be very difficult, as it would open up much of Obamacare to potential repeal just to remove this segment in the legislation.

When WE THE PEOPLE elect our Representative’s, upon the threshold of taking office and thus becoming our public property, they are all required to take/make a solemn oath to ‘Uphold and Defend’ OUR Constitution,(every part of it) from all enemies both foreign and domestic. It is when they forget this oath that they then become self serving ‘politicians’ and are no longer our Representatives, they have become instead a domestic enemy from within in my view. We then need to either vote them out, recall them, or imprison them as the traitors they have become by forsaking the oath they had once sworn to uphold, OUR Constitution!

America is ours, ‘Executive Orders’ do not ,will not superceed OUR Constitution at the whim of Obama, (or anyone else) that is not how it works. We do not serve our Representatives, they serve us! Camden N.J.  Sept. 6, 1949

Howard Unruh, age 28,  killed neighbours while walking near his home. He never went to trial; he was determined to be a paranoid schizophrenic and found to be insane.  He died at age 88 in a ward for the mentally insane. He said he would have killed 1000 if he could have had the time.

4 injured, 13 dead, including 3 children ages 2, 6, and 9. He lived with his mother, was a loner, he just took a ‘walk of death’ one day.

Austin Texas, Aug. 1, 1966, At the University of Texas.

Charles Whitman, age 25, was a former Marine sniper who shot people from the observation deck of a campus tower before being killed by police.

32 injured, 16 dead plus the shooter. He was abusing amphetamines and was having severe daily headaches, he suspected mental illness according to the notes police found later.  He murdered his mother and wife prior to going to the university.

San Ysidro Ca. July 18, 1984

James Oliver Huberty, age 41, went into the McDonald’s and shot people until he was killed by a police sniper.

On the day before the massacre, Huberty had called a mental health center. The receptionist misspelled his name on intake as Shouberty. Since he had not claimed there was an immediate emergency, his call was not returned. Delusional, he said he served in V. Nam but was never in any military branch.

19 injured, 21 dead including 5 children ages, 8 months, 9, 11, 11, 11, plus the shooter.

Edmond Oaklahoma, Aug. 20, 1986, at a post office.

Pat Sherrill, age 44, He was about to be fired, (he thought) as a letter carrier for ‘poor job performance’, when he came to work, he shot his coworkers and supervisor and then killed himself. Described as a quiet loner, neighbors said no one liked him, he was a suspected ‘peeping tom’ and kids called him ‘crazy Pat’. He lived with his mother until she died and was never able to hold any job for long.

6 injured, 14 dead, the shooter committed suicide.

Killeen Texas, Oct. 16, 1991, at Luby’s Cafeteria, (Luby’s Massacre)

George Hennard, age 35, drove into a restaurant and then started shooting people. Police injured him and he then killed himself. He was described as angry and withdrawn, he was known to ‘dislike’ women, and was unemployed.

In response, Texas politicians got it right by passing a Shall-Issue gun law, removing the personal discretion of the issuing authority to deny a Concealed Carry Handgun License to qualified applicants.

27 injured,  23 dead, the shooter committed suicide.

Littleton Co. April 20, 1999, Columbine High School

Eric Harris, age 18, and fellow student Dylan Klebold, age 17, killed students and teachers at their school before killing themselves in the library. Both of these students were in psychiatric treatment and in trouble with the law. The weapons they used were illegally acquired, (stolen). They even made bombs that failed to work.  Noted in a journal they kept, they wanted to ‘out-do’ prior murderous events.

 24 injured, 13 dead, two shooters committed suicide.

Oct. 6, 2006 at the West Nickle Mines School

Lancaster County Pa.,  an Amish schoolhouse.

Gunman Charles Carl Roberts IV age 32, took hostages and shot ten girls. He confessed on the phone to his wife that he was a child molester and knew he would molest again, and that he was ‘angry at God’.

 5 injured, 5 killed aged 6-13. The shooter committed suicide.

Blacksburg, Va. April 16, 2007, Virginia Tech.

Student Seung Hui Cho, age 23, killed two students in a dorm and then went through a classroom building shooting people. He had been diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder known as ‘selective mutism’, and a major depressive disorder. Many faculty members found Cho’s behavior ‘menacing’. The school psychiatrist said she was not surprised to hear who had done the shooting and would have been more surprised if it had been anyone else.

17 injured, 32 students dead, the shooter committed suicide.

Binghamton N.Y.  April 3, 2009, At the Immigration Services Center.

Jiverly Wong, age 41, was a student at the center when he shot people as he walked into a classroom. Had said ‘America sucks’ and that he wanted to shoot the President and co-workers, he had a bad run of luck according to some and appeared paranoid to others. He was never diagnosed.

4 injured, 13 dead, the shooter committed suicide.

Fort Hood Texas, Nov. 5, 2009, At a Soldier Readiness Processing Center.

Army psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan, age 39, is awaiting trial for accusations that he fired at a group of soldiers who were getting ready to be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. He is described as a paranoid and schizoid according to colleagues and superiors. 2 1/2 years after his premeditated  attack he still has not come to trial. As directed by the White House, the DOD refuses to call this what it is, a terrorist act.

32 injured, 13 dead. Shooter was shouting ‘God is Great!’; in Arabic during the rampage.

Tucson Arizona, Jan. 8, 2011 at a ‘town square’ meeting.

Jared L. Loughner age 25

Acquaintances said that Loughner’s personality had changed markedly in the years prior to the shooting, a period when he was also abusing alcohol and drugs. He had been suspended from Pima Community College in September 2010 because of his bizarre behavior and disruptions in classes and the library. After his arrest, two medical evaluations diagnosed him as paranoid schizophrenic and incompetent to stand trial. He was sentenced to life in Nov. 2012.

12 injured, one a US Representative,  6 killed, one age 9, one a Federal Judge.

Aurora Co. Century Movie Theater, July 20, 2012

James Holmes age 25,

Holmes’ defense attorneys claimed in a motion he was a “psychiatric patient” of the medical director of Anschutz’s Student Mental Health Services prior to the Aurora shooting. CBS News later reported that Holmes had met with at least three mental health professionals at the University of Colorado prior to the massacre.

Some of Holmes’ acquaintances suspected prior to the shooting that Holmes suffered from mental illness and could be dangerous. Two weeks before the shooting, he sent a text message asking a graduate student if they had heard of the disorder dysphoric mania, and warning the student to stay away from him “because I am bad news.”

Injured 58, killed 12.

Newton Conn. Dec. 14, 2012  At an Elementary School.

Adam Lanza age 20, Diagnosed with a developmental disorder, ‘Aspergers Syndrome’. His mother had told him she was considering placement for him in a mental institution, this may have been what ‘set him off’ in his rampage’? The guns he stole were his mothers, he killed her first.

Killed 27 people including 20 elementary school students, the shooter committed suicide.

Webster New York, Dec. 24th 2012.

William H Spengler Jr. age 62

Ex. convict who went to jail for murdering his grandmother by beating her to death with a hammer. In a note police found he wrote that he was going to do what he liked best, “I like to kill people”.  He was not allowed to legally possess firearms.     NOTE: Why was this lunatic let out of jail in the first place?

Under 527 CMR, Board of Fire Prevention Regulations: 13.04 Licenses, Permits, and Certificates. Under M.G.L. Chapter 148-13 the following quantities of explosive materials that shall be exempt from license, registration, and permit, and may be kept, or stored in a building or other structure:

(a) Small Arms Ammunition:

1. Not more than 10,000 rounds of rim fire ammo.

2. Not more than 10,000 rounds of center fire ammo.

3. Not more than 5,000 rounds of shotgun ammo.

(b) Small Arms Primers:

1. Not more than 1,000 caps or other small arm primers.

(c) Smokeless Propellants:

1. Not more than 16 pounds.

2. Persons under age 18 may not keep or store smokeless propellants.

3. Not more than 2 pounds of such propellant shall be stored in a multiple family dwelling or a building of public access.

(d) Black Powder:

1. Not more than 2 pounds.

2. Persons under age 18 may not keep or store black powder.

(e) Exempt quantities of small arms ammo, primers, smokeless propellants and black powder shall be stored in original containers and such containers shall be stored in a locked cabinet, closet or box When Not In Use.   Mark’s NOTE: A firearm certainly is NOT considered an ‘original container’ to lock away with ammo inside it. If a loaded firearm became hot enough in a fire the gun would go off just as if you pulled the trigger yourself, a fireman’s job is dangerous enough without the added danger of inadvertently being shot. The fire Marshall understands this. So if someone tells you that you can leave a gun loaded so long as it is locked up or trigger locked, ask that person to point out specifically in the law where that is stated, because obviously it runs contrary to what is stated under M.G.L Chapter 148-13. Pardon the pun, but Ma. gun laws are written vaguely so that the courts can ‘burn’ you any which way they choose to interpret them. So Beware. It is better to be proactive and do a little more than what is thought to be required, than to take chances on being charged over misconceptions in vague law.

NOTE: Storage by Permit increases the amounts of ammo, primers, smokeless propellants and black powder in private use that you may have. But be aware that when you apply for and are approved for a permit to store more than quantities listed above you consent to periodic inspections by the Fire Marshall or his designee. The entire code can be viewed under 527 CMR.
